Getting started

When using UPDD V6 you will be sent a compressed file to install the software on a system running a supported operating system.

Installation notes for each operating system are found here:  Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android.

The touch device(s) supported in the supplied driver should match the device believed to be in use on your system, based on information supplied, such as touch monitor in use or specific technical information supplied from your system.

In most cases the touch device will be a USB device, in a few cases it will be a serial device. We do not currently support other device types.

Obviously, for the device to work either the USB or serial cable must be plugged in. Connecting just the video cable is insufficient!

Follow the install notes to install the driver. The driver will automatically discover any supported USB devices that are connected to the system. For serial devices make sure you manually add the device after installation as described here.

All being well, after a successful installation, when you touch the screen the cursor should move, hopefully to the point of touch. If it does move but not to the correct place run UPDD configuration to setup the correct desktop / touch screen association and/or to calibrate the touch screen.

If you touch the screen and the cursor does not move follow these steps to help understand why this might be...

Look at the UPDD Status screen in the UPDD daemon menu.

If the status lists a device invoke the UPDD test screen to see if any drawing is seen. If no drawing is seen or drawing is seen but you cannot config / calibrate run diagnostics and send us the resultant file.

If the status is 'no device connected' then follow these instructions:

Check the cable is plugged in.

Can you see what USB device is removed / added from the system hardware list when you plug / unplug the device.

If no device is being removed / added then investigate if you have a hardware fault. Try another cable or usb port. Some old USB devices do not like USB3 high speed ports. Try plugging into a USB2 port or hub. Until the USB touch device is seen by the system our driver cannot work.

If the device is seen by the system, identify its USB vendor and product id as listed in the system and use the UPDD command to list the USB devices seen by the driver:

https://support.touch-base.com/Documentation/50240/System-and-driver-configuration#usbdevices

Is your USB device as listed in the system also listed by our driver?

If not please send details of the USB device listed in the system and run diagnostics and send us the resultant file.

If the device is seen by our driver then use the UPDD command to list the devices supported by the supplied driver:

https://support.touch-base.com/Documentation/50240/System-and-driver-configuration#pnpinfo

If the device is not supported send us device details and we will send you the correct driver.

If the device is support by the driver run diagnostics and send us the resultant file.
