Tested distributions

This document lists the tested distributions, shows the last UPDD version tested and any caveats.

It is not our intention to test further distributions in the belief that UPDD will work for the majority of Linux distributions.  We will, however, test if informed otherwise.

Distribution  Version   Name   Arch   V6 release  Caveat
 CentOS  6.x    X64  6.0.168
 CentOS  7.x    X64  6.0.168
Fedora Core  18    X64  6.0.168 System tray icon is not visible.
Device hot plug not supported.
Perl must be installed before installing using the command
'sudo yum install perl'
 Redhat  6.x    X64  6.0.168
 Redhat  7.x    x64  6.0.168
SLED  12    x64  6.0.168 System tray icon is not visible until after a restart
Ubuntu  16.04    x64  6.0.168 System tray icon is not visible until after a restart
 Slacko Puppy  6.3.2    x64  6.0.557

Bash shell is not working as expected so commands need to be preceded with ./upddenv. e.g. ./upddenv ./upddutils devices

Enable setting usb.abort_on_nodevice to rediscover disconnected and reconnected devices.

UPDD Daemon process runs during install and performs the required initial start up functions, but not after reboot, hence no menu bar icon in the Notification Area. To run UPDD Daemon after reboot:

Alpine      X64  6.0.586  This distribution is supported as described here.

This lists distributions that are known to be OK as informed by our end users:
