Keyboard Modifiers

There are two considerations with keyboard modifiers and gestures / actions, either processing the physical keyboard modifier selected at the time the gesture is performed or emulating the keyboard modifier when the gesture is performed.

Physical modifier

macOS/X supports "modifier keys" that can be used in conjunction with a mouse.

For example, pressing the Ctrl key on the keyboard and clicking the mouse (left button if using a multi button mouse) invokes a context menu and Shift + click allows multiple selections.

When a gesture is used to generate clicks and presses, these modifiers will perform the same actions as when used in conjunction with a mouse or trackpad.

However, there is an additional built-in modifier in Commander.

In Commander the zoom / pan screen actions have to be assigned to gestures manually. However, holding shift while zooming or panning the screen will cause it to zoom or pan more slowly, allowing for refined adjustments.

Emulated modifier

Click actions can be defined to set a modifier such that the system will perform the 'modifier + action' function.

When a click/press action is defined, there is an option to define a modifier to be set, as shown below:
