Command line registration

Last updated 2026-09-11

With the advent of the new UPDD licence server in July 2026 and the introduction of new key formats (beginning UPDD-NNNN etc) the UPDD Command line utility can be used to register the software on UPDD V7.1.228 and above, as detailed here.

For a standard registration key use the command:

upddutils register license [key]

If using the new key format on an old version of the Windows software (V6 or V7 pre 228), download https://download.touch-base.com/downloads/upddlicence/Latest/upddlicence-x64.zip (also -x86.zip). Unzip anywhere and run it with UPDD installed and running.

Commands are register <key>, unregister <key>, claim and status. When UPDD is running the licence is written straight into it. When it is not, the code is printed for hand entry.

A reinstall on the same computer needs none of this, because the daemon reclaims the licence at start-up. The tool is for new or replacement machines, and for freeing licences from a script.
