Last updated 2022-04-04

This article brings together all you need to consider when installing UPDD on to macOS and relates to UPDD v6 and V6.

Subject
Supported releases - V6  10.7 thro 12.x  UPDD v6 is available for 10.7 and above. 10.13, 14 and 15 introduced various security measures that required changes to our software, so we highly recommend you use the latest version of the installer or at least 6.0.7xx.
If you have an old installer, request the latest from the driver supplier or download it from www.touch-base.com.
V7  10.15 and above  The main difference with UPDD V7 is the new USB interface to overcome various difficult USB issues reported with a generic USB interface utilised in V6. We hope to phase in UPDD V7 during 2022.
Hardware connectivity  USB  Although UPDD supports old serial devices, these are rarely used on macOS. 99.99% of connections are with USB, so we will concentrate on this connection type.
Connection  A typical touch monitor has 3 cables, power, video and USB.  For a touch screen to function, you must have the USB cable plugged in!
OS registration  For our driver to function, the USB device must be seen by the OS.
